Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR-www.cscr.in) a unit of Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine, GKVK, Bangalore (an Autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology) located in the Christian Medical College Bagayam Campus, Vellore Tamil Nadu. The mandate of CSCR is aimed at applying stem cell science and other innovative technologies for unmet medical needs. The major focus of research at CSCR is towards developing gene therapy for haematological diseases, applications of induced pluripotent stem cells and musculoskeletal regeneration some of which are at advanced stages of clinical product development.

ABOUT THE POSTS:

Scientist ‘E’ – Level-13 (3 Posts)

The post requires Translational research in the field of viral/non-viral gene transfer/modification in human and mouse stem cells with special focus on haematopoietic stem cells and mice transplantation studies.

Fellow-E (Scientist-D) - Level-12 (2 Posts)

The position involves management and coordinating operations of cGMP facility, which is a core facility for researcher and clinician at CSCR. cGMP facility comprises of state of the art modules for generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), haematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and gene therapy products and provides managed space and training to users to generate clinical grade products for cell and gene therapy application. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) coordinating activities and maintenance of the pluripotent stem cells core laboratory, derivation, maintenance and distribution of human PSC line. Providing training for the generation, characterization and use of iPSCs. Development of normal and genetically modified iPSC, HSC and their differentiated progenitors for disease modelling and therapeutic applications. Prior experience in generation, expansion and maintenance of human induced pluripotent stem cell lines (iPSC) and mesenchymal stem cells in cGMP. Isolation, expansion and genetic modification of haematopoietic, induced pluripotent stem cells and their molecular characterization. Developing and maintaining collections of biomaterials in academia or industry. Individuals with a proven track record of working with biological systems involving various stem cells and experience with management of team-based activities, are encouraged to apply.

The job description involves research for microscopy and flow cytometry and flow sorting, proficiency in software required for these applications and experience in multiphoton and confocal microscopy. This facility comprises of the state of the art equipment for research applications responsibilities include (but are not limited to) managing fluorescence, confocal and animal imaging microscopes and flow cytometry and flow sorting equipment, providing training to students and faculty to operate the equipment. Individuals with a proven track record of working with biological systems involving various stem cells and experience with management of team-based activities, are encouraged to apply.

01/2020/CSCR Scientist E Essential Qualification & Experience

PhD in life sciences or other Allied Sciences or Equivalent with 8 years R & D experience including Ph.D, demonstrated by strong publications and successful funding of competitive extramural grants.

Experience: Should be an outstanding scientist with a strong and exceptional research record with independent discovery research and collaborative/thematic research of a high order.

Should have a strong research record with promise to contribute to the focused research themes at the Institute and/or carry out their own discovery driven research.

Experience details: Translational research experience in the field of viral/non-viral gene transfer/modification in human and mouse stem cells with special focus on haematopoietic stem cells. The candidate should have experience in running an independent lab and should have received independent grants. Experience in the research involving viral/non-viral vectors/gene editing, particularly of haematopoietic stem cells and mice transplantation studies will be preferred.

Publications in the field of research will be an advantage.

Experience for Deputation:

02/2020/CSCR Fellow-E (Scientist-D) Essential Qualification & Experience

Masters in Life Sciences or equivalent with 5 years’ experience

Desirable: PhD in life sciences (stem cell biology) or other allied sciences

Experience: Should be an outstanding scientist with a strong and exceptional research record and intentions of collaborative/thematic research. Should have a strong research record with promise to contribute to the focused research themes at the institute and/or carry out their own discovery driven research experience in the relevant field with ability to foster interactions among basic scientists and clinicians.

Compensation / Pay Details:

The Scientist-E carries pay level-13 (Basic Pay of Rs 1,23,100/-) and Fellow-E/Scientist-D carries pay level-12 (Basic pay of Rs 78,800/-) of the pay structure of 7th CPC Pay Matrix. Other benefits include Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Facilities as per Govt. of India Rules. The selected candidates will be covered under National Pension System (NPS).
